Hi Clair, re: > That's all good! Thanks just wanted to check, thought there might be a problem > with my emails or the dropbox folder I had no problems retrieving the netCDF files and netCDF configuration files (*.cfg) that you made available, thanks! I spent a considerable amount of time in the past two days learning the ins and outs of ADDE datasets from model output stored in netCDF format files. As I mentioned in a previous email, I was forced to instrument the code involved in reading the netCDF files so I could understand how entries in the netCDF configuration file are actually used, and what those configuration files needed to contain. This effort turned out to be very beneficial as it allowed me to encounter a subtle coding error, understand it and then fix it. That's the good news. The thing that I ran into that I was not able to "fix" is the McIDAS-X code that deals with "arbitrary" netCDF files since that code contains a number of assumptions about the contents and structure of the netCDF files that they handle. The upshot of this is quite simple in your case: the ABOM satellite netCDF files that you want to use are _not_ supported/supportable by the existing code, and the amount of work it would take to modify the code is more than can be done in the near time frame (I am trying to finalize code modifications to the Unidata McIDAS-X v2017 release). So, what advice can I give for the best way for you to proceed? I suggest using either McIDAS-V or Unidata's IDV instead of McIDAS-X for your investigations. I copied one of your files: 20030101143000-P1S-ABOM_OBS_B02-PRJ_EQCAUS_5000-GMS5-VISSR.nc to a directory where either/both McIDAS-V and the IDV have access, and I was easily able to display and analyze the image in both applications. I am attaching a PNG image of the display I made in McIDAS-V v1.6 for your review. If you are interested, I can explain in detail why the existing McIDAS-X code will not support the netCDF files that you want to use. Please let me know.
