Hi Ben, I found the problem with NLDN lightning decoding this morning: the nldn2md decoder you were trying to use from the ldm-mcidas v2004 binary distribtion 'referenced' a library that could not be found: $ ldd nldn2md linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libX11.so.6 (0x55578000) libg2c.so.0 => not found libm.so.6 => /lib32/libm.so.6 (0x5565f000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x55681000) libc.so.6 => /lib32/libc.so.6 (0x5568c000) libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXau.so.6 (0x557bb000) libdl.so.2 => /lib32/libdl.so.2 (0x557be000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x55555000) To get things going, I SCPed a version of nldn2md from my 64-bit Fedora Core 5 Linux machine at Unidata, and put it in the ~ldm/decoders directory. Lightning data is now being decoded on climate-db and is accessible through ADDE. Comment: the reason that NLDN data was not available when you were pointing at a remote ADDE server is that the distribution and access of the lightning data is restricted. Remote access is not allowed by the agreement that each site has with SUNY Albany for access to the data. When you were 'pointing' at adde.ucar.edu for RTPTSRC data, the lightning data access was not allowed. One more thing that I need to look into: the correct setup for /etc/syslogd entries to allow LDM logging through syslog.
