Hi Gilbert, I drove your email into our support tracking system. > I have two questions for you. Our NOAAport dish is now fixed, as far as I > can tell, and reception is nominal. We're probably going to lose around x > packets per day. With that, my questions are: > > 1. How many NOAAport packets, on average, or roughly, do you at UNIDATA > lose per day? Tom should be able to answer this. > 2. Is this OK to do in ldmd.conf, running 6.13.12.4: > > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.1 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.2 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.3 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.4 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.5 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.6 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.7 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.8 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.9 -l /home/ldm//var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.0.1.10 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" > EXEC "noaaportIngester -m 224.1.1.1 -l /home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" Assuming "/home/ldm/var/logs/ldmd.log" is the default LDM log file, the "-l ..." option is unnecessary. > Will the LDM crash by writing to just one log file? It shouldn't. > I am doing this to keep > things simple. > My thought is no, because the files, if garbled, will arrive at slightly > different times. By "files" I assume you mean the messages. The messages shouldn't be garbled because the LDM logging module locks the log file when it writes a message. > I guess we'll find out! But I wanted your thoughts on this as I beta test > it.
