Hi Terri, re: effects of changing <datadir-path> setup in registry.xml > So far, nothing has broken. Ah, but the day is still young ;-) re: > Regarding the log file: I’ve found on the newer Debian OS’s that when I > put the line: > > local0.debug /home/ldm/logs/ldmd.log > > into /etc/rsyslog.conf, other things stop logging to /var/log/messages, which > I don’t want. Hmm... Which Debian release(s) are you referring to? I have experience in running the LDM under Ubuntu 14.04 which is a relatively current Debian offshoot, and I have not run into anything like you are referring to (but I have run into other things that I don't like). re: > So I’ve been leaving it out of the rsyslog.conf and dealing with > the massive amounts of ldm messages in the system logs and no messages > in the ldm log. Have you seen this before? Nope, I have not see this. I can't imagine why adding an action for LDM logging to rsyslog.conf would cause other things to stop logging UNLESS those other things are also using the local0 log facility. By the way, the next release of the LDM will allow the user to get away from using the system logging daemon for LDM logging. This will be a big win for folks that want to use an 'enforcing' SELINUX setup.
