Would an LDM that didn't take into account existing feeds to the same host be 
useful to you? That feature was added into order to counter a denial-of-service 
attack (which happened). You, however, seem to have very tight control over who 
can connect to your LDM; consequently, the negative consequences for downstream 
LDM-s that are behind a NAT device or (in your case) coming in via an ssh(1) 
tunnel might outweigh the benefits.
