[LDM #XAT-864036]: Installing woes

The configure(1) script checked for the file /etc/rsyslog.conf but didn't find 
it. I wonder if it's because the file can only be read by root. Can you try 
making it world readable and then re-execute the configure(1) script? Please 
let me know if that works.
