Thom, We've never conducted rigorous experiments on the degree of clock accuracy necessary. I can tell you from experience, however, that if your clock is accurate to the nearest tenth of a second and is monotonic (i.e., doesn't jump backwards in time) then you won't have any time-related problems. Both of these requirements are easily obtained by running an NTP daemon (e.g., ntpd) that continuously adjusts the clock slew rate. Stratum 1 servers would be fine.
