The Sys admin person is coming back to my office in a few > minutes. The entries in the LDM logfile weren't in the necessary order: May 18 19:10:26 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Starting Up (version: 6.0.10; built: Apr 30 2003 16:46:37) ... May 18 19:12:07 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Denying connection from localhost.localdomain May 18 19:13:49 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Going verbose May 18 19:13:51 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Adding debug May 18 19:14:49 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: SIGUSR2 May 18 19:14:49 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Going silent May 18 19:14:51 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Going verbose May 18 19:15:47 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Denying connection from localhost.localdomain May 18 19:17:47 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Denying connection from localhost.localdomain May 18 19:19:01 granite last message repeated 2 times May 18 19:20:51 granite last message repeated 3 times May 18 19:21:47 granite last message repeated 2 times May 18 19:22:42 granite rpc.ldmd[3929]: Adding debug Note that the connection from "localhost.localdomain" was rejected while the top-level LDM was in "verbose" mode but not "debug" mode. Try it again. Monitor the tail of the LDM logfile. Don't try the notifyme(1) until you see the "Adding debug". The "notifyme" file that you sent was a binary file. I suspect it was the notifyme(1) program itself rather than the output from running the notifyme(1) program in debug mode. Please try it again. Regards, Steve Emmerson
