I think the Frontogenesis is not a derived formula, but it is in our Jython 
library. So you need to enter the
the formula through the grid interface:

Formulas > Grids > Define a grid diagnostic

when the interface popup, enter frnt(S,V), and then select S and V from your 
dataset. S is theta and V is wind vector.
