[IDV #LGE-624556]: default map in new map view window

No, there really isn't any good way to automatically do this.

What you can do is save the view state. Under the View menu is a sub-menu - 
Saved State.
Select "Save View State" and call it something. This saves the projection, 
viewpoint,etc.

Now, when you bring up the new window go to its View->Saved State menu and 
select the state you just saved.
