When you get a chance, download the nightly build after tomorrow and see if the one level selection works for you. Also, remember that using the X over topography option allows you to display contours of fields other than geopotential height on the height surface. So, using temperature over topography shows the cold air flowing into the troughs as they deepen (sometimes). Have a good weekend.
