Hi Alan, > I dwonloaded a text point data file for wind from the NEAR-GOOS database > ftp://ftp1.jodc.go.jp/www/lunar.comet.ucar.edu/2006_03.wind.txt, > which I then saved locally (see attached). > In the data chooser, I selected text point data as the file type. However, we can handle them in the data if we use the "colspan" attribute. So, if you put the following 2 lines at the beginning of the file the IDV can read the data: (index) ->(Latitude, Longitude, Time, WDIR, WSPD, SIGN(Text)) skip[], Latitude[unit="deg"],skip[], Longitude[unit="deg"],skip[], Time[fmt="dd MM yyyy HH mm" colspan="5"], WDIR[unit="deg" miss="MM"], WSPD[unit="m/s" miss="MM"], skip[],SIGN(Text),skip[],skip[] We'll be adding the colspan ability into the gui. -Jeff Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: KBZ-495057 Department: Support IDV Priority: Normal Status: Closed
