The waypoint should stay at the lat/lon you placed it at.

In the drawing control there is a "Location" menu that allows you to choose
the coordinate system. The default is lat/lon/alt but you can also choose
x/y/z and x/y. For shapes drawn in x/y space they will stay where they are put
but if you change the projection the shape will maintain its location in x/y.
