For any 2D field, you can overlay it on topography if you have a topography field (or just display the topography). For example, from the IDV Data Chooser, select the Catalog tab. Under the: Model Data Unidata IDD Model Data (netCDF) NCEP NAM 80km CONUS model data (real and near time) select the Latest NCEP NAM 80km CONUS model data item and click the Add Source button. From the Field Selector you can expand the 2D grid tab and select the Geopotential height at surface of the earth field. For the Display select the 3D Surface->Topography item and click the Create Display button. If you want to overlay a different 2D field on the topography, you can select the 2D field (e.g. Pressure reduced to MSL at mean sea level) and then select 3D Surface->Color-Shaded Plan View Over Topography (or one of the other 3D displays) and click Create Display. You will be prompted for the Topography field. At that point, select the Geopotential height at surface of the earth field from the selector and press OK. The 2D field will be displayed as topography. Don Murray Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: QIG-697320 Department: Support IDV Priority: Normal Status: Open
