Son of a gun, what do you know about that, you're right!  It works
in the latest 1.3a2 version, but not with 1.2.  Using:

runIDV -sitepath none

will work in 1.2.
(actually any non-existant file/directory or URL string as an argument works)

Count that day lost when you learn nothing new. ;-)
