IDV jnlp file on web server not working

Kalika,
Your jnlp file (which includes a bundle) works ok. The reason the link
on http://cs.indiana.edu/~kpatil does not start the IDV is that your web
server does not provide the MIME type application/x-java-jnlp-file for
.jnlp files.
Each Web server has a specific way in which to add MIME types. For
example, for the Apache Web server you must add the following line to
the .mime.types configuration file:
application/x-java-jnlp-file JNLP
Check the documentation for the specifics of your Web server.
I have added your jnlp file to my home page
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/staff/wier/index.html;
the link is called Sample1.jnlp. If you click on it the IDV should
start. I see your IDV bundle has an area over Buffalo NY. I will leave
this online for two days.
Note that bundle files are not jnlp files. Bundle files configure the
IDV but do not start it. Bundle files end in .xidv. A bundle file, or
any file ending in .xidv, as a web link cannot start the IDV. Jnlp files
help start the IDV with Web Start. Jnlp files end in .jnlp, and can be
used as IDV starting links on a web page.
Please send all IDV email questions to address@hidden
