What I can say is that the NOAA group that is creating the Vlab images apparently adopted the code that Eric Bruning of TTU developed to generate the TTU images you are using now; winnowed the number of variables in the output files; decided to only make FullDisk coverages available; and extended the products to GOES-West. It really should be the case that you can switch from the TTU products to the Vlab products with not much effort on your part. Also, the Level3 versions of the products might even serve your purposes better than the TTU Level3 products you are using now. The only way to tell if this is, in fact the case, is for you to give them a test yourself.
