Hi Joe, re: > Thanks for the response Tom, No worries. re: > I found your website from another site which said that the lightning > data was publically open, that is why I reached out. Can you tell me what site you are referring to? Saying that lightning data is publicly available is more than misleading, it is incorrect! re: > Unfortunately I don't have access to a LINUX system, we are all widows > based. I was afraid of that. re: > I am looking to try and get the data to assist with investigations/research > on fires and the potential cause when lightning is suspected. OK. re: > Honestly, I don't know anything about the netCDF4 format or Python. I was afraid of that also. What are you planning on using for your investigations? re: > Do you know who I would need to contact about the remote access to > the McIDAS ADDE or the THREDDS data server? The McIDAS ADDE and TDS servers we operate are open and access is free. The URL for our primary TDS server is: thredds.ucar.edu The GOES-R lightning data is available under: Satellite Data -> GOES16 GRB -> GLM -> LCFA The data files are organized by day (directory names follow CCYYMMDD naming convention). The special exception to this is there is a directory named 'current' that contains the "most recent" files (the number of such files depends on which data one is looking at). The file names look like: OR_GLM-L2-LCFA_G16_s20190032133000_e20190032133200_c20190032133226.nc These are netCDF4 files. They are the same that one can download from the NOAA PDA facility.
