20051122: Upstream data-feeds.

This archive contains answers to questions sent to Unidata support through mid-2025. Note that the archive is no longer being updated. Bonjour Claude,

type "hostname"..and it should return a fully-qualified hostname.

Some Linux boxes, if not configured properly, will return localhost
localdomain...

i.e. my machine name is lenny, but hostname returns:

(jweber) lenny:/home/jweber 203 % hostname
lenny.unidata.ucar.edu
(jweber) lenny:/home/jweber 204 %


Also, we do not provide data to commercial entities, only for education
and research purposes, it seems as if Aria Technologies may not fit the
educational or research requirements, please inform me if I am wrong here.

MADIS is operated by Forecast Sysytems Labs (GDS), and is not affilaiated
with NCAR/UCAR..
