FYINote: Access to unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu was back Sunday night at about 8:00 pm CDT (1 UTC Day 2004292)
The outage was due to a failed network switch external to the SSEC Datacenter. Jerry Unidata Support wrote:
From: Unidata User Support <address@hidden> Organization: Unidata Program Center/UCAR Keywords: IDD Unidata-WisconsinUsers of the UNIWISC (aka MCIDAS) IDD feed: The machine used to inject GOES satellite imagery into the IDD as the UNIWISC stream, unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu, has been inaccessible since approx. 18Z Saturday. There is no back injection machine for this feed, so UNIWISC will be unavailable until service on unidata2 has been restored. Also, unidata2 is a top level IDD relay for several other feeds, so folks feeding from unidata2 or from a machine that uses unidata2 as its primary source of data should switch to their failover site(s). We will send notification when unidata2 returns to service.
