Marek, A clarification: The GOES data distributed via the LDM/IDD is not "archived data" it is real time...queues can hold data (generally 1 hour, but sometimes up to 4 and as many as 12 hours) for about 1 hour. Also, we prefer to have only one feed into a campus (prudent use of bandwidth). gusher has primary and alternate feeds to aid in its robustness, and I do understand your concern if gusher goes down. Now keep in mind, a secondary would only be of help if the actual machine gusher went down, unless your dept is on a completely different network. Not trying to stop progress, but perhaps re-think the need. If you feel gusher is not stable enough to provide you with the data you will need/desire, we are more than happy to find a secondary feed for your machine. Please let me now, I will be on vacation starting in about 2 hours, so plz respond to: address@hidden for a timely response (may still be from me) Cheers, Jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff Weber address@hidden : Unidata Program Center PH:303-497-8676 : University Corp for Atmospheric Research 3300 Mitchell Ln : http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/staff/jweber Boulder,Co 80307-3000 : --------------------------------------------------------------------- On Wed, 17 Mar 2004, Marek Kmiecik wrote: > Hi, > > I work with solar radiation group at Atmospheric Sciences Research > Center/CESTM, SUNY, ALbany, New York. > I want to start obtaining the GOES satellite archives via ldm > system on regular basis.
