Kevin,
We are touching base with all sites that are still running LDM releases
previous to LDM-6.0.10 and asking them to upgrade to the most recent
LDM-6 release as soon as they can. As of yesterday, the current LDM
release stands at LDM-6.0.11.
The benefits of upgrading to LDM-6 are numerous. The biggest one is
that LDM-6 works much more efficiently at moving large volumes of data
over long distances. The bottlenecks seen in such data movements are
akin to those experienced on slower links, so we think that this new
release would be particularly useful to you.
In conjunction to upgrading to the latest LDM release, we are asking
sites to report real time statistics back to us. Reporting of real
time ingest statistics helps us continually evaluate the performance of
the IDD and make adjustments when/where needed.
Here is information on building LDM-6 and adding reporting of realtime
stats back to Unidata.
Building LDM-6.0.11:
Information on building, installing, and configuring LDM-6.0.11 can
be found online at:
http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/ldm/ldm-6.0.11/index.html
Reporting real time statistics:
The ldmd.conf entry that needs to be added to report real time statistics
back to Unidata is:
exec "rtstats -h rtstats.unidata.ucar.edu"
This 'exec' line should be the last 'exec' line in ldmd.conf. Please
remember that after making this modification, you will need to stop and
restart your LDM:
<login as 'ldm'>
<modify ~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf>
ldmadmin stop
<wait for all LDM processes to exit>
ldmadmin start
If you would like help in upgrading to LDM-6.0.11, please let us know.
Thanks in advance for your help...
