We feed from Rutgers as our primary feed site, and last week they changed
the machine from where I can feed from ns2.rutgers.edu to ldm.rutgers.edu.
We had been feeding from them through a separate DSL line which masks our
LDM's IP address to be 207.44.114.42. Tom Grzelak added 'allows' for this
IP number to ns2 and everything was working well, until the changeover. Tom
states that these 'allows' are also present on the new machine but I keep
getting 'RPC: Time out' errors if I try to connect through the DSL line.
Connecting through our regular campus network, where my IP address is not
masked , works just fine. I can resolve ldm.rutgers.edu through DNS just
fine, I can traceroute to it through our DSL line, but both feeding and
notifyme's fail through the DSL. Any ideas on why it worked fine on one
machine but not another?
Tom... I did notice that when I run a traceroute, I go through a firewall.
Could this be the source of the problem?
