>From: McIDAS <address@hidden> >Organization: University of Puerto Rico >Keywords: 199907222125.PAA02872 IDD MCIDAS Ric and Scott, After Ric's note on July 23: >From address@hidden Fri Jul 23 16:05:10 1999 > >Tom, > >...the feed is up and seeing MCIDAS now... I assumed that the University of Puerto Rico would start getting the MCIDAS imagery that they were requesting. I just received the following from Karli Lopez of UPR: To: Unidata Support <address@hidden> Subject: problem still continues From address@hidden Wed Jul 28 11: 57:26 1999 Tom, After you sent an email to sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu in order to fix the problem, I received a copy of their reply but there had been no immedeate effect on the stream as of Friday. I intended to wait a day to see if the feeds were reestablished. However I didn't get access to the machine until today and have found that the streams are still not up and we are getting the same 'Access Denied by remote server' error in out ldmd.log file (july 28th). Please help us correct this problem. Thank you, Karli Lopez Scott, The 'Access Denied by remote server' indicates to me that UAH is not allowing the feed request from UPR. Could you check into this and verify that you are requesting MCIDAS data from LSU? Thanks. Ric, I decided to do a quick check to see if you (LSU) are getting the MCIDAS products: (zero:ldm) 47 % notifyme -vxl- -f MCIDAS -o 3600 -h sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu Jul 28 18:04:53 notifyme[28877]: Starting Up: sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu: 19990728170453.690 TS_ENDT {{MCIDAS, ".*"}} NOTIFYME(sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu) returns OK Jul 28 18:04:53 notifyme[28877]: NOTIFYME(sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu): OK Jul 28 18:10:39 notifyme[28877]: Timed out after 300 seconds inactivity Jul 28 18:10:39 notifyme[28877]: Disconnect NOTIFYME(sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu) returns OK Jul 28 18:11:04 notifyme[28877]: NOTIFYME(sirocco.srcc.lsu.edu): OK and it appears that you are not. Could you check things on your end in two ways: o make sure that you are requesting and getting MCIDAS data o verify that UAH is requesting and being granted access to MCIDAS data Thanks. Scott and Ric, Would you please CC Karli on your replies to this email? Thanks to both... Wamble" <address@hidden> Subject: Re: 19990728: Unidata-Wisconsin (MCIDAS) products not being received (cont.) In-Reply-To: <address@hidden> Message-ID: <address@hidden> Folks, Again, my sincere apologies for the neglect. I am really swamped trying to get my polar antenna recalibrated...oof...OK, enough complaining... My logs are full of messages like: Jul 28 19:59:22 sirocco unidata[1307]: run_requester: 19990728185915.390 TS_ENDT {{MCIDAS, ".*"}} Jul 28 20:00:23 sirocco unidata[1307]: FEEDME(unidata.ssec.wisc.edu): 13: gethostbyname(unidata.ssec.wisc.edu): lookup Timed out But, ldmping and nslookup and traceroute all found it find...So, I restarted the LDM feed on sirocco and ran "ldmadmin watch" and immediately noted a couple of MCIDAS products coming in. As I write this, I am still getting them. ldmd.conf contains: ... request MCIDAS ".*" unidata.ssec.wisc.edu ... allow UNIDATA aqua.atmos.uah.edu Following the restart, the log shows: Jul 28 20:36:27 sirocco unidata[6921]: run_requester: Starting Up: unidata.ssec.wisc.edu ... Jul 28 20:36:28 sirocco unidata[6921]: run_requester: 19990728203526.240 TS_ENDT {{MCIDAS, ".*"}} ... Jul 28 20:36:29 sirocco unidata[6921]: FEEDME(unidata.ssec.wisc.edu): OK The request from aqua that follows a restart looks like: Jul 28 20:36:36 sirocco aqua[6930]: Connection from aqua.atmos.uah.edu Jul 28 20:36:36 sirocco aqua(feed)[6930]: Starting Up: 19990728194014.217 TS_ENDT {{UNIDATA, ".*"}} Jul 28 20:36:36 sirocco aqua(feed)[6930]: topo: aqua.atmos.uah.edu UNIDATA Jul 28 20:40:57 sirocco aqua(feed)[6930]: h_clnt_call: aqua.atmos.uah.edu: 1: time elapsed 24.528749 Should this be MCIDAS instead of UNIDATA on each end? We have had some off-campus network problems, so maybe the connection fails and doesn't restart properly...There's actually good/bad news here too. In the next few days we will take sirocco down briefly to reconfigure its IP address in conjunction with it's migration over to a complete rewiring of the building to a 100baseT backbone on the vBNS! Just checked my stats file and see: 19990728210615 MCIDAS unidata.ssec.wisc.edu 1 56903 4.54 5@0615 19990728210619 so, it looks like, for the moment, you should be able to get the MCIDAS from sirocco, but it's possible I'm missing something.
