Hi, re: > More and more sites are switching to bufr format for their upper air > data (even though it seems the U.S. will use ascii out until the end). GEMPAK is moving to a community supported package, so any major additions to the package will need to come from community members. re: > 2) Does unidata have a plan for dealing with this bufr data? Each supported package has/will have its own timeline for implementing full support for observational data in BUFR format. re: > 3) In this message > > https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/support/help/MailArchives/idd/msg06961.html > > the author says they have scripts to use for this task. However, I > couldn't find another post from them and the mail archive contains no > email addresses. Is there any way to get this poster's scripts? I contacted the community member that initiated the inquiry you are referencing and asked if he was still converting BUFR format data into GEMPAK format(s), and he said that he is. I then asked him if he was willing to share the scripts that he wrote to do the conversion, and he kindly made those scripts available. I am attaching the tar file that he provided to this reply.
