Hi Eric, I am jumping in here since it was I who first fielded questions related to GEMPAK decoders not writing their output files. I helped two different users who were running RedHat Enterprise Linux with this problem, and both problems disappeared as soon as IPv6 support was turned off. Your experience may differ given that you are running under Debian, and the others were running under RedHat Enterprise. To reinforce what Michael mentioned in his original reply to you, we don't know exactly how or why disabling IPv6 support should enable writing of the GEMPAK decoder output! re: > Can you provide additional details of the ipv6 tweak that is mentioned? The following web page may be of some help, or, at least, be provocative: How To Disable IPv6 on Fedora / Linux & Why http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-disable-ipv6-on-fedora-linux-why/ re: > I've tossed some of the logs online at > http://www.rap.ucar.edu/staff/enelson/gempak_logs/ if you wanted to take a > look. I just took a quick look at your log files. The messages being written to the log were much the same if not identical to what the other users I alluded to above were seeing. I have a feeling that the last line in the following snippit is trying to tell us why the problem is happening: [23808] 100210/1511[DCMETR 7] DCMETR version: 3.3 [23808] 100210/1511[DC 2] read 96/102399 bytes strt 0 newstrt 96 [23808] 100210/1511[FL -3] Cannot create file /d2/ldmData/gempak/surface/20100210_sao.gem.
