Giovanni,
After un-gzipping the downloaded 5min topo file, you can create a grid file for
Brazil such as:
GDFILE = brazil_topo.gem
GAREA = bz
GDATTIM = 060425/0000
TOPOFL = dem5
GEMPAK-GDTOPO>
You could then create a data set alias for NMAP2 for that grid file and a
restore
file for plotting the TOPO@0%pres field.
However, since your later question was about the topo AREA files, I've asked
Tom Yoksas
about converting the DEM files to an AREA, which should be straight foward
since the
DEM file is simply 16 bit little endian data with an 80 byte header. I'll let
you know
when I have an AREA file made.
