Yoong-Goog, The dcnexr2 program is just un-bzipping the pieces of the radar file that are sent and appending them to the output file. It is not doing any decoding of the data. The GEMPAK library is utilizing the RSL library to read the data in the plotting programs. The resultant output file is the ARCHIVE2.0 format documented in the Interface Control Document for ArchiveII/User available from: http://www.roc.noaa.gov/ssb/cm/icd_downloads.asp In the long run, it would be better to develop applications to read the data directly from the bzipped format to eliminate the step of un-bzipping on receipt of the data. This would be better for disk space to allow users to store more data online.
