The McIDAS file uses a different platform number. You will have to add the appropriate entry in the $GEMTBL/sat/imgtyp.tbl file. My code creates the original nex2gini image with mapping to GINI 99 to AREA 11. I believe that the ADDE server is leaving the number as 99.
