I received your changes and will look at their implementation
(Monday-Wednesday next week is the GEMPAK workshop and
Aug 12-16 is the AMS SLS/NWP conference....so time as available)

I have been in discussion with NCEP developers regarding the 24 bit issue-
in particular since AWIPS will be replacing the HPs (that do support
multi-visuals) with Linux. So, NCEP will have to address the issue.
Hopefully your work will save us all a lot of headaches.
