You are a GREAT help!!!  Thank you very much.

I've taken the code that you provided in your last email and am now using it to 
process the StageIII precip data from Feb'99 for the ABRFC.  I then turn around 
and write it into a GEMPAK gridded file.  I'm sure that as I use NetCDF more in 
the future, I'll get to know how to use it better (maybe even as well as one 
can 
with GEMPAK!).  Again, thanks.
