Subject: re: perl package
Hi Robb: My package (PDL::NetCDF) can create netCDF output files. I just read
the email you forwarded (which I had not seen before) and did not see anything
about perl in the question. There are surely dozens of ways to convert ASCII
to netCDF, the right answer probably depends upon when software or language is
already being used and if any specific decoders are already available for the
ASCII and netCDF formats required.
You can get PDL::NetCDF from CPAN at:
http://www.cpan.org/modules/by-module/PDL/DHUNT/PDL-NetCDF-0.94.tar.gz
In order to install, you need the PDL module first:
http://www.cpan.org/modules/by-module/PDL/PDL-2.4.4.tar.gz
The advantage of using PDL::NetCDF over the normal perl netCDF interface is
that netCDF variables are mapped to compact N-dimensional PDL variables instead
of perl lists.

Doug

he/she wanted a perl reader? I can't tell that from the email.

Doug,
Did you answer this request? The only reason I'mm asking, is that I wasn't

Hello,
I'm a graduate student in the computer science dept at Howard
University. I'm working on a project with upper-air data. I want to
know if there is any application/decoder that can convert a raw ASCII
text format file into NETCDF?
Please let me know!
