That is correct for the principle THREDDS server that we operate,
thredds.ucar.edu.
Another server has a longer rolling archive of most of the datasets available
on thredds.ucar.edu. Neither of these archives, however, are comprehensive.

A couple of comments:
- we started creating NEXRAD Level III national composites some time after 1995
I can't remember exactly when we started creating the composites.
- we have not archived the NEXRAD Level III national composites here in
UCAR
It is possible that one or more Unidata sites have such an archive, but
I don't know who they might be. I would have suggested contacting Daryl
Herzmann of UIowa, but I assume that you have already done that given
that you are at the same institution. Just in case you have not yet
contacted Daryl, here is his email address:
daryl herzmann <address@hidden>

We have no historical data.

If Daryl does not have an archive of the products you are interested in,
you should send an email to the address@hidden email list
that we maintain. It is possible (but not highly likely) that some
other site has been archiving the NEXRAD Level III composites that
we generate for real-time redistribution in our Internet Data Distribution
(IDD) network.
re:

We're sorry we couldn't be of more help!
re:

No worries.
Cheers,
Tom
