What are you using to transfer the images to your site? It may be
that your site gets blacklisted from trying to transfer too many
files in too short of a period.

This strongly suggests that some automatic controls are kicking in to
limit your transfers. I could be more definite if I better understood
how you are doing the transfers/requests.

Have you considered setting up an LDM feed for the data and then
managing your own local archive?
