Robb & Ethan...
Thanks for your responses.
RH_fhg and RH_lpdg are two different vars according to gribtonc.
Indeed they are. We had been getting RH_lpdg (and u_lpdg and v_lpdg),
but the problem is they are no longer in the RUC2 datasets on
motherlode/DODS. We can use the RH_fhg at 10m, but would prefer the
RH_lpdg at 500m.
Thanks for looking into this.

Hey Tom...
Just got this from Robb...I think the issue can be closed out, although
I think Bob will keep after NCDC to get the DODS/THREDDS server up and
running.
Later,
tom

Tom,
The RUC2 vars RH_lpdg, u_lpdg and v_lpdg don't have data in them because
the NWSTG NOOAport stream doesn't carry them. They are in the RUC model
but the resolution is 80km. I changed the NetCDF file a couple weeks ago
to eliminate the empty space by removing vars from the cdl file for the
NetCDF file for disk considerations. Actually I've been checking all the
model NetCDF for missing/outdated vars.
Message from Chiz.
Looking at the RUC2 (^[YZ].W. aka grid #236), the boundary
layer grids on pressure layers above the ground are not present in the
NOAAPORT data stream. They are in CONDUIT.
The boundary layer pressure layer grids are sent in the RUC (^[YZ].Q.
aka #211) 80km grids.
Chiz
At this point, I don't see us changing over to the CONDUIT feed.
Robb...
