Hi again Carissa, In my previous email I noted that I made changes (additions) to two of the GRIB2 tables that 'gribinsert' uses to create valid/complete LDM/IDD Product IDs. This process was pretty simple since there were only two products which were not represented in the tables: !D# CT# ID# PD# NAME UNITS GNAM SCALE MISSING !23|123|123|123|12345678901234567890123456789012|12345678901234567890|123456789012|12345|123456.89|12345678|1234567890 000 006 201 001 SunShine Duration s SUNSD 0 -9999.00 002 004 003 000 Unknown NCEP Product - FRWX_3 0 -9999.00 The various columns are: D# - discipline (the '!' indicates a comment) CT# - category ID# - product number PD# - product definition template number The reference I have been using to determine the correct name for GRIB2 parameters is: NCEP WMO GRIB2 Documentation http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/docs/grib2/grib2_doc.shtml Comments: - This documentation was sufficient for determining that the parameter labeled as discipline 0 (Meteorological Products), category 6 (Cloud), parameter 201 is Sunshine Duration (SUNSD). - This documentation did _not_, however, provide me with the name for the product labeled: discipline 2 - Land Surface Products category 4 - Fire Weather parameter 3 - ??? (the online docs define parameters 0, 1, and 2 only) Just for testing, I fabricated the name FRWX_3 and added it to the GRIB2 table that 'gribinsert' uses (the entry I fabricated is listed above_. I would _much_ rather find out what this parameter really is and use its correct name in LDM/IDD Product IDs. Questions: - Can you help find someone who knows what this product really is? - If you find the right person, can s/he provide a more up to date reference for GRIB2 tables than those contained in 'NCEP WMO GRIB2 Documentation'? Thanks in advance! Cheers, Tom -- **************************************************************************** Unidata User Support UCAR Unidata Program (303) 497-8642 P.O.
