Has something changed and if so, are there plans > to change the display below? > > Thanks! > Hello, We at Unidata aren't in charge of creating the MRMS products, just processing and re-distributing them. About 5 years ago, the MRMS creators were told to remove the gridded CG Lightning product that they were creating due to proprietary/contract reasons, and had to change it over to a density product. Unfortunately no other products by MRMS will have that type of resolution or point data. An alternative are the GLM flash points (although these flash points should be noted that they are not necessarily cloud-to-ground, but also includes in-cloud lightning, and the exact location is approximate). I believe if you are a *edu user with an LDM (and AWIPS EDEX), we can distribute the Vaisala and Earth Networks Lightning Data to you.
