[AWIPS #RAB-671867]: AWIPS II Installation in RHL

I really can't tell you what it is that makes any graphics card compatible or
not,
as I do not know the answer to that question.
You're best bet is to run CAVE and see if it works.
We are not able to provide an exhaustive list of what graphics cards will or
won't
work, and I am not even sure of the details about why some identified graphics
cards
are not supported.
The original developer who created that list on our website passed away
unexpectedly
before I started working here recently, and so I can't ask him to get the
answers for
your questions.
If you are working on a Mac machine I suggest downloading the Mac installer for
CAVE
and trying to run it that way. Otherwise, installing and running a CentOS or
RedHat 7
virtual machine is the best I can suggest.
I'm sorry I can't provide better answers for you, but I just don't know
specifically
what it is about the graphics cards that makes them compatible or not. And
I've heard
from a colleague that not all graphics cards are incompatible in the same way
-- meaning
for some cards, rendering the maps won't work, but satellite data does, for
other cards
point data doesn't render, etc. So, to find out if the card works or not you
really
just have to run CAVE and load different data types.
Thanks.
