Hi Larry,
I have not heard of a GEMPAK decoder at National Centers for bufruair, I assume
because they use the Python Data Access Framework to request the records from
their AWIPS II EDEX server.
In the latest GEMPAK release (7.2.3) are table entries for AWIPS II bufruair:
A2UAIR AWIPSDB uair.xml
CAT_SND SCAT_SND 4 2880 -1 OFF/0/0 4
and in $NAWIPS/Gemenviron you have the $EDEX_SERVER envvar which defaults to
"edex-cloud.unidata.ucar.edu". The file $GEMTBL/data-access/uair.xml contains
the request-able parameters.
With the python-awips package installed from
https://github.com/Unidata/python-awips/blob/master/README.rst
you can use SN programs and nmap2 with the alias A2UAIR (rather than UAIR).
I should probably get around to writing a GEMPAK C/FORTRAN decoder for this, or
perhaps solicit someone in the community to do it using the existing BUFR dc
programs as a reference.
Hope this helps,
Michael
